Regardless of the global economy slow-down, the spirit of unity and selfless love connects our hearts together.

To bring out the charitable spirit within the students, the Limkokwing University of Creative Technology organized a humanitarian charity campaign themed Plight of the Palestinians: From Grim to Bleak. The Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Malaysia, Adbelaziz Abu Ghoush, has attended the event.

The campaign will carry on for two months of which its main objective is to raise funds for medical supplies for the people in Gaza. It is also aiming to send a message of peace and anti-war in Gaza and at the same time, hoping all the students in the university will be aware on this issue.

Five students from different countries expressed their thought about the war and spoke about the trauma of the victims. They also called up the support towards the campaign. During the event, everyone at the Limkokwing Plaza observed a brief moment of silence as tribute to the victims of the Gaza war. The student representatives are from Malaysia, Lithuania, Holland and Palestine.

One of the Palestine students shared a very touching personal experience during the event. Although the situation has calmed down a little, but he couldn’t forget the pain and anguish of the war at his homeland.

Besides that, the Limkokwing Sound & Music Design Academy composed the theme song, ‘Let’s Heal the World,’ a song performed by three international singers and the university choir group, has touched the heart of the crowd with their harmonious voice for peace.

Special Assistant to the Limkokwing President, Tiffanee Marie Lim, expressed the depressing implication and concerns on the war. Speaking on behalf of the university, the campaign aims to draw attention of the leaders from all over the world in the effort to bring an end to war and hope to preserve world peace.

During the event, the Ambassador of State of Palestine to Malaysia, Adbelaziz Abu Ghoush, shared recent conditions in his country and felt thankful and overwhelmed by the university’s effort and concern towards his nation.

The main purpose of the campaign is to support peace in Gaza and at the same time, hoping to raise medical funds to help the war victims. Besides that, the university also hopes to raise funds from the sales of various exclusive items.

“Plight of the Palestinians: From Grim to Bleak” is the second Palestinian humanitarian effort by the university. The first effort was done in 2003.
