This is the tool that drives the engine of growth and, as the President of Limkokwing University of Creative Technology, Professor Emeritus Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Dr Lim Kok Wing, put it eloquently recently at a national forum.
“Economic advantage no longer depends on natural resources, raw materials, trade of good and services, giant factories or even growing consumer markets. Instead, creativity is now driving the new economy and re-generating the old economy. At the cutting-edge of this shift is the creative sector of the economy – science and technology, software engineering and web-publishing, digital media and design innovation, culture and entertainment and the knowledge-based professions.”
Worldwide, education is evolving rapidly to meet the demands of human capital. Digital skills, a dynamic mindset and a new global outlook are some of the attributes sought by today’s industries, governments, organizations and entrepreneurs.
Similarly, the career market too has changed dramatically as industries become more defined as more and more incredible technological advancements dictate our borderless world.
As the country’s leading proponent of creative education and innovation, Limkokwing University has been transforming the mindset of its students so as graduates they can fit into the fast –moving global economy.
It is all about talent, potential and character development with the acquisition of advanced digital skills and world-class knowledge needed to empower the young people of Malaysia and, indeed, the world.
The 4th Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, was able to gauge the mission and vision of Limkokwing University succinctly as early as in 2001.
“An institute like Limkokwing University is very important because it enables us to bring out the creative capability in us. We know thousands of students, not only from Malaysia, but from all over the world are being trained at Limkokwing and the result is, indeed, very impressive.’

As one Chung Hua High School, Seremban student, Chan Sin Yee put it with forthright candour.
“I never thought of seeing people from so many different cultures and the environment here, and I hope I can be a part of this environment after I graduate from high school.”
It was truly a fitting tribute to one of Malaysia’s most “exciting and inspiring’ career open days ever.
