Limkokwing’s research opportunities pull in international students

Kuching: More international students are attracted to Limkokwing Sarawak due to the innovative and research opportunities it provides.

A graphic design student from Nigeria, Arthur Dokubo said in a press release that he found out about the university while surfing the Internet.

While many students from Africa choose to do business or information technology programmes, Dokubo is considered by his fellow students as a rare individual.

His ambition is to become a world-class designer.

“What attracts me is the creativity and innovative concepts found in design.

“In today’s world, everything we touch and see is created by designers.” said Dokubo in a press release yesterday. Dokubo, who is pursing Anglia Ruskin’s BA (Hons) in Graphic Design, believes that design will have a big impact in his home country in the very near future.

“In my country very little emphasis is paid on the design industry.

“Currently, the industry back home is still playing ‘catch-up’ with the rest of the world,” he explains.

“Once I graduate, I believe I can contribute significantly to the industry back home,” he said.

Dokubo is one of the many international students who have decided to study in Sarawak.

Sarawak’s cultural diversity as well as her rich ethnic heritage also makes it the ultimate choice for international students who want more than an education.

Rolynde Casumpang from Philippines in a press release said: “I came to Kuching on a holiday and fell in love with the place and its people.

“Sarawak is more than an educational destination for me, it feels like home.

“And Limkokwing made me feel like I am part of one big family.” Said Casumpang.

Similarly, Arsita Nurannisa Widhyastari from Jakarta, said Kuching is an ideal place to further her studies.

“I have art and design from a very young age and was thrilled to know that I could continue my studies here,” she said.

Like others, Arsita found Kuching an ideal education destination having found that the people here are very accommodating and friendly.

Dokubo said he would definitely encourage people from his country to take up design-based courses at Limkokwing.
