Limkokwing University of Creative Technology has done magic at the Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair (KLIBF) today, April 23, 2009 at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC).
Launched by the Minister of Education and Training of the Kingdom of Lesotho, Hon. Dr. Mamphono Khaketla, Magic was a hugely creative event with performances by starlet Ernie and the Limkokwing Choir, an international ensemble of harmonious voices from 30 countries.
Edited by Special Assistant to the President, Tiffanee Marie Lim, the book is about out the voices of young men and women from 100 countries expressing their experiences and hope for themselves and the world.
They share their success stories in discovering themselves and grooming inner self-respect and a sense of purpose as students of the Limkokwing University of Creative Technology.
Tiffanee Marie Lim says, the book was envisioned from Limkokwing students sharing their experiences in studying in a global environment across various cultures.
“It comes from the inspiration and the resilience of the founder-president, Professor Emeritus Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing whose dedicated vocation lies in transforming the global education.
“Magic is a book following up the voices of support and inspiration. It is woven in spirit and self-faith in grasping the dreams and ambitions.
“On the surface, Magic cannot be touched or seen with the naked eye albeit only being able to be felt in the warmest corners of one’s heart,” said Tiffanee at a press conference after the book launch at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) today.
Meanwhile, Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing Tiffanee’s father says, Magic is in the hearts of his students.
“It is about the freedom to express their desires and dreams. Without this freedom, they will not be able to understand themselves and subsequently unable to fulfill their dreams in life.
“At Limkokwing, our approach is different. We design and prioritise the production of graduates that will be able to grasp their aspirations,” he said.
On a separate note, the Minister of Education and Training of the Kingdom of Lesotho, Hon. Dr. Mamphono Khaketla believes Magic is another step of change for the people of the Kingdom of Lesotho.
“Magic is seen as an in-your-face style of inspiration to the young people of the world, especially in Malaysia and Lesotho, to achieve their full potential and grasp every opportunity in the manner these young people from 100 countries have.
“Magic will further the change in Lesotho brought by Limkokwing in the six months since its opening. Already there is a change in attitude and mindset amongst the young people and it will be Magic that will take them one step further.”
Limkokwing University also exhibited all its other publications at the fair. Limkokwing is internationally connected through campuses across three continents, Asia, Europe and Africa with 25,000 students, ready to be empowered movers and shakers of the world, from 144 countries.
