THE show was called Magic. The venue was the most happening mall in town – The Pavilion Kuala Lumpur. The 21 designers behind it were graduating students from Limkokwing University of Creative Technology.

Most of the models were student too. Even the choreography, the music, the backdrop and more, were all thought out and created by the students.

The reason behind this grand affair, the university’s founder Tan Sri Datuk Dr Lim Kok Wing said, was for the students to rise to the occasion.

Holding it in Pavilion as opposed to a show on campus allowed thousands to view the students’ creations.

This year, the students were asked to create their collection based on the theme, Icon.

So we saw a lot of “icons”, from personalities like Michael Jackson to places like Shibuya in Tokyo. Iconic, too, were the efforts!

The theme music was a special fusion of Asian, African and Western elements by the students from the Sound and Music Design Academy. The make-up and hair design were by the students, from the International Lifestyle Design Academy.
