YBhg. Dato’ Sohaimi Shahadan, Chairman of Kolej Poly-Tech MARA (KPTM), paid a visit to the Limkokwing London campus recently.
KPTM is one of Malaysia’s most storied institutions of higher learning since its historic beginning in 1983 when it was known as the Learning Resource Centre in the state of Kelantan. Following the establishment of Maktab Sains MARA a few months later in Pahang, it started offering a twinning programme known as the American Associate Degree (AAD) which was accepted by more than 75 universities in the United States and New Zealand as a 2+2 transfer degree programme. This led to the establishment of KPTM Kuala Lumpur two years later and another two branches in 1988 and 1994 in the states of Selangor and Kelantan respectively.
Dato’ Sohaimi was briefed on the concept of Limkokwing University, its Global Classroom concept and its emphasis on producing graduates tailor-made for the 21st century, complete with the digital skills and industry experience needed to stamp their mark on the global map.
One particular point of discussion centred on the possibilities of KPTM students enrolling in short courses in London, particularly English communication courses. This is seen as a pivotal step to ingraining these students with a global mindset, able to communicate in a global environment with men and women from a variety of cultures and nationalities. Dato’ Sohaimi indicated his keen interest with an official visit to the London campus in the offering, this time with his official team in tow.
Limkokwing London currently houses students from 46 different countries.
