A delegation from the Nigerian Export Promotion Council recently visited Limkokwing University to take a first-hand look at a university that has generated much interest in Nigeria.
The Nigerian delegation was led by its Director, Mr. Sabo Bello, Deputy Director, Mr. M. A. Iranloye, Assistant Director, Mrs. U. Etokowoh and its Trade Promotion Officer, Mrs. H. B. Hardeker.
They were accompanied by officials from the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade).
They were welcomed by the University’s Vice-President, Network Development and Student Affairs, Dato’ Nazaruddin Abdul Jalil and other senior Limkokwing officials.
Dato Naza escorted the visitors around the campus to several Limkokwing icons such as the Limkokwing Worldwide, the Limkokwing Creativity & Innovation Research Centre, the Branding Innovation Centre and Centre for content Creation among other focal points.
At the Research Centre, the Nigerian guests were pleasantly surprised to see a large collection of creative campaigns and other works of art adorning the 3-storey gallery.
They were told that many of the creative works were crafted by the Founder and President of Limkokwing University, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Dr Lim Kok Wing over a period of four decades.
Another area that caught their attention was the Plaza which houses many in-house business units that are also available for franchise.
They learned that these units also served as incubation hubs or experiential learning for Limkokwing students to acquire real-time hands-on knowledge and skills.
At the Hall of Fame, several videos produced by the University’s Centre for Content Creation were screened.
For the Nigerian visitors, the visit to Limkokwing University was a rewarding experience; they discovered the power of creative education in empowering the students.
The visit brought to mind the words of Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Dr Lim Kok Wing who once said:
“At Limkokwing University of Creative Technology, we decided at the beginning that our university would be creativity-driven and we would focus on the creation of an international educational institution. So we set out to establish a learning environment that will attract international students. It has shown results.”
