Datuk Dr Maximus Johnity Ongkili, Malaysian Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) paid his first official visit to Limkokwing University on Tuesday August 25, 2009 for the launch of the Limkokwing Innovation Bank - An Online Creativity Library.
The Bank’s launch marked another creative idea from Limkokwing University. It offers a wide spectrum of creative ideas and solutions coming directly from the University’s prized assets: its students. The online depository will be a connector between the leaders of tomorrow and companies searching for innovative solutions.
Hundreds of students looked on for the much anticipated event at the Limkokwing Hall of Fame as Datuk Dr Maximus Ongkili lifted the audience along his speech, with his wit and sense of humour praising the University for being in line with the nation’s 1Malaysia campaign.
“Limkokwing will serve to institutionalize ideas to achieve the goal of making Malaysia a knowledge-driven economy,” said the minister, adding, “The initiatives of Limkokwing Innovation Bank will open doors to a network of innovation centres in the future.”
“If the nation is 1Malaysia, then Limkokwing University is One World University”, said the Minister before ending his speech by echoing the University President, Professor Emeritus Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing whom he touted as the nation’s Father of Innovation and Creativity Education, expressing hope that the students from Limkokwing will be the offspring of innovation.
“Why do something which so many people are doing when there are so many things that nobody is doing?”
The University’s ambition is to deposit One Million Creative Ideas in this online Bank, located at www.innovation-bank.net.
Limkokwing is acknowledged as the world’s leading Creativity University, with global presence in 12 campuses worldwide. With over 30,000 students from more than 150 countries, the ideas and concepts on Innovation Bank are guaranteed to display uniqueness and diversity.
