The Palestine Ambassador in this country, H.E. Abdel Aziz Aboughosh, has awarded the nation’s Distinguished World Citizen of Peace And Humanity Award to Professor Emeritus Tan Sri Dato’ Dr Lim Kok Wing, President of the Limkokwing University of Creative Technology, for his deeds in highlighting the Palestinian cause to the students of the University and the world beyond.

Abdel Aziz said, the award served as the highest mark of respect for Tan Sri Lim’s efforts in campaigning for world peace, which specifically includes the Palestine issue.

“The University founder has taken the effort to educate the students from 140 countries on how important the issue of Palestine is in the Middle-East conflict,” he says.

He gave the speech to reporters in conjunction with the Distinguished World Citizen of Peace And Humanity Award ceremony held for Dr Lim Kok Wing at the Palestine Embassy today.

He added, previously, Limkokwing University had been projecting programmes that disseminate awareness to the society regarding the Palestine issue.

According to him, some of the programmes that were showcased include a video preview made by the students and was aired on television in 2003, bringing to light the suffering of the Palestinians to Malaysian citizens.

“Programmes that were related to Palestine have succeeded in making contact with the society’s sensitivity towards Palestine and this has helped to unite everyone in helping to bring back peace to the troubled land of Palestine,” he says.

On the recipient, Dr Lim spoke of the great honour to be bestowed the award, considered by him to the highest reverence ever received in his life.

He added that the award is actually for all Malaysians who have also shown their concern on the Palestine issue.

“We will not stop here and together will advocate for the peace of Palestine by conducting various programmes in the future,” he concluded.
