Shu Uemura, the renowned facial and cosmetic brand showed their appreciation to local talents by launching a limited edition cosmetic box that is specially designed by three winners in the Shu Uemura’s design competition.
First prize winner Jenn Tuang Ean Chan, 22, successfully created her designed themed Kisaki which was inspired by the colours used in the Japanese royal kimonos. Meanwhile, second- and third-place winners were Nancy (Colour Parade) and Catherine Teh Ying Suang (The Charm of Peacock).
The competition is an artistic competition specially organised for young talented graphic designers by using Shu Uemura as an inspiration.
Shu Uemura brand manager Malaysia Jamie Ong said the cosmetic box has its own special features as it is a mixture between the winning designs and the special make-up colours selected by the professional make-up artists of Shu Uemura.
“Each of the limited edition cosmetic boxes contains lipstick, eye lashes, blusher which is specially arranged and designed according to the themes of the special boxes.
“Besides showing the theme of the specially designed boxes, the boxes could also beautify woman through helping them improve on their appearance in any events or festivals that they are attending,” she said at the launch of the limited edition boxes at Damansara recently.
She said the Kisaki theme was translated by make-up artist Lisa Yap.
“It is very beautiful, classic yet modern in its features. The gold and red features in Kisaki showcase the bright Deepavali and Chinese New Year themes. It is suitable for any women wanting the contemporary and glamorous look during the festive season.
The Charm of Peacock showcases trendy and youthful powerful features that are suitable for women to bring during night functions like Christmas.
“To celebrate New Year’s Eve, Colour Parade is highly suitable as it brings out a new spirit. The colours specially selected by Lavynia Tam are contemporary and trendy and they are ideal for the occasion.”
The three students are graphic design students from Limkokwing University of Creative Technology.
“The challenge in this contest increases with 10 finalists required to design the object of beauty according to the original design that they sent in the earlier round.
