
Limkokwing University of Creative Technology (LUCT) and the Dayawati Modi Academy, India recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to facilitate academic and cultural exchanges between both institutions.
Dayawati Modi Academy is a component of one of India’s leading conglomerates Spice Global Group which has interests in mobile phones, IT integration, retail real estate and education.
The MoU was signed by the group’s chairman Dr Bhupendra Kumar Modi and LUCT vice president Datuk Fajura Juffa Mustapa Kamal. It was witnessed by the university’s founder and president Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing and Spice Global Group president Prakash Nanani.
Speaking before the signing, Dr Modi said he was attracted by the university’s philosophy toward the teaching of digital technology.
“I was drawn to the philosophy which this university has and what it is doing, which is taking technological and management jobs and turning it into a new digital era,” he said.
The MoU covers collaboration on teaching and research programmes between the two institutions and the placement and support for students of Masters programmes to undertake a period of research at the partner campus.
It also includes exchange programmes involving academic staff as well as students.
According to Lim, the university will introduce the latest digital technology and creativity programmes in India before moving on to postgraduate programmes later on.
He said that LUCT will set up a campus in New Delhi and possibly explore other areas in India.
“I have no doubt that by working with Dr Modi, we will be able to develop a strong campus in New Delhi, and move to other places in India,” he added.
Also present during the ceremony were LUCT chairman Tan Sri Aseh Che’ Mat and associate vice president for talent development Datuk Tiffanee Marie Lim.
