Lamborghini Malaysia in collaboration with Microsoft and People Equation consulting organised a design contest as part of a joint initiative for the reduction of poverty.

The charity centers on a competition to design a paint scheme for a Lamborghini LP560. Three winning designs will be selected, and applied to the Lamborghinis.

The charity also aims to support people to develop skills in the broadest sense: enabling and equipping them to make use of their talent, knowledge, resourcefulness and creativity and enable them to improve their chances in life.

Dr. Rodwin Bahadur, Founder & CEO of People Equation said that they could have done this competition with any other car but they chose the Lamborghini because it is internationally recognized and it would bring success to this campaign.

“What we’re dealing with here is very creative and innovative. If you’re dealing with something that’s so unique, it makes sense that you would target an organisation that fosters that and that’s what Limkokwing is,” said Dr. Bahadur.

Dr Bahadur further added that Limkokwing is known not only in Malaysia, but internationally. Limkokwing’s name is developing a reputation for creative, innovative and dynamic students. It’s a natural environment and working with Limkokwing University on this campaign is very valuable.

Limkokwing students will benefit from this competition as they will be able to use the latest software from Microsoft as well as get an internship in top advertising and design agencies if they are among the top three winners.

Peter Tam, Director of Local Software Innovation for Microsoft said that Limkokwing University will be the unique university to showcase the Lamborghini and that Microsoft software will be made available to students for free.

Tam also added that best students will be chosen for Microsoft student partner programme where top students are chosen to be part of the Microsoft family.

Students will also make a contribution to poverty reduction and be showcased as top designers internationally.

The competition is opened to two categories where students will have to pay an entry fee of RM 150 and professionals an entry fee of RM350.

All the money raised will be donated to the Narine Poverty Reduction Initiative (NAPOREE).

A panel of award winning international judges will review the designs and will select the top designs.

Winners of the Paint my ride contest will have the opportunity to take the car for a spin at the Sepang international circuit and their design accredited by the Association of Accredited Advertising Agents Malaysia (4A’s).

The winners will also stand a chance to win cash prizes of RM5, 000 for the first place, RM3, 000 for the second place and RM1, 000 for the third place.

The top three winning designs will be showcased on actual cars at One Utama between the 16th and 18th of April and Pavilion Kuala Lumpur between 23rd and 25th of April.

Closing date for submission is on the 31 March 2010 and design can be submitted online at Paint My Ride
