Dance competition and fashion show at varsity a rousing success

PEO’ACULAR sounds and lights illuminated the University Plaza at the Limkokwing University of Creative Technology (LUCT) campus in Cyberjaya.

It was the venue for the Maya 2009 dance competition organised by the Limkokwing Indian Cultural Club.

Vying for the top spots were students from eight universities - Limkokwing University of Creative Technology (LUCT), HELP University, Multimedia University Melaka, INTI College, KDU College, Masterskill University, Taylor’s College and Sunway University.

Judging by the crowd’s response, the entire event was a roaring success.

Four teams were chosen as the winners. Masterskill University clinched ‘the top prize and the most popular dance group award while MMU Melaka and HELP University came in second and third respectively.

Club president Vicram Lachumanan said the event was conceptualized to support the 1 Malaysia campaign.

Apart from the dance competition, the event also featured a fashion show sponsored by 1- Passions.

Some 20 students from Iran, Sri Lanka, Palestine, Syria, Kazakhstan, the USA and Malaysia modeled intricately embroidered sarees and other traditional Indian attire.

Special assistant to Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing, Tiffanee Marie Lim, who read out Lim’s welcome speech, said that the event was proof that students were able to organise a massive scale event in a very professional manner.

The crowd was also entertained with performances by local artistes such as Dr Burn, K-town Clan, GoldKartz, Twisted Edge, and Chinese Dance group “V”.
