Student ambassadors from Cambodia want to ‘Heal the World’

Student ambassadors from Limkokwing Cambodia paid Malaysia a week long visit recently, culminating in a video shoot for the song ‘Let’s Heal the World’ in both English and their local tongue, Khmer.

The song, which was composed, arranged and produced by the students and staff of Limkokwing’s Sound & Music Design Academy , is a rallying cry for peace by all youngsters and students across the world; pledging peace, harmony, love and care for one another.

The ambassadors’ belief in the song’s message was clearly evident. “The song is really inspiring, trying to send out a message that we should get together to make the world a better place,” said Raksmey Chan, one of the student ambassadors.

The experience of recording the song, as well as the video shoot, also stood out for them. According to Broseth Sokvisal, “It was pretty fun, but we’d love to do more.  We’d love to join the Sound & Music Design Academy to gain more experience.”

Asked about their first visit to the Cyberjaya campus, Manika Keo said, “There’s a lot more international students here and you can see that it’s more diverse.”

“There’s a lot more staff here as well. Over in Cambodia, we know all the staff, lecturers and students and we’re like a whole big family. In Cambodia, it’s like a small world, here it’s a bigger world,” said Lin Tek Hour.

“This place is bigger, more attractive, there’s a lot more space and equipment as well. You can also see that creativity is apparent throughout the campus,” added Broseth.

The song ‘Let’s Heal the World’ most recently featured as the centrepiece of Limkokwing’s Heal the World fund raising concert earlier this year. The concert was part of Limkokwing University’s humanitarian effort aimed at drawing attention to the plight of the Palestinians who were affected by the war in Gaza.
