Three Limkokwing girls, Pearl Williams, Lorraine Tau and Sethunya Maele challenged
their gifts this July 10th as the young talented girls inspired other contestants during
the Miss Universe Botswana pageant at the Gaborone International Convention
Centre (GICC). Two of the girls, Lorraine Tau and Pearl Williams made it to the top
five extending to Pearl winning Miss Congeniality during the special awards section.
The girls highlighted the role that Limkokwing University played in their grooming.

Expressing talent in such a manner is a very commendable and an encouraging step
for other young people, and Pearl, Lorraine and Sethunya have really showed the
importance of challenging oneself to take up things that motivate oneself and are fun at
the same time. The young girls are a true inspiration of real character building as they
have shown that deep within men dwell those powers that if realized would astonish
mankind.

Such courage is also interesting because it helps create opportunities, open doors that
no other person can close, except you. In a big way the girls have actually affected
a breakthrough experience for their future endeavours. This is an ideal that Limkokwing
University encourages its students to always have and practice.

Given the calibre of the pageant, the university takes pride in the steps that these
young ladies took to enter for such an intense competition, especially one that aims
to market and promote Botswana tourism, enhance the image of Botswana diamonds,
market and promote culture, empower women and brand Botswana. This is a true
Limkokwing spirit as students are encouraged to always embark on opportunities that
do not only open doors for them, but those that they can also enjoy and challenge their
mind.

The students have highlighted that Limkokwing University did play a major role in their
grooming, preparing for the event and also making sure that their minds were sharp
for an event of this magnitude, this being due to the environment that the university
posses; one that teaches that it is possible, through proper means, to teach the mind
to think beyond all circumstances and over the level of mediocrity and cause, make
possible the impossible.

“It humbles me that young Batswana are taking the creative industry by storm. This challenges me to also try my creative abilities and not be afraid to take a risk as a student,” laments Lesego Gaorengwe, Limkokwing Malaysia student.

Winning Miss Congeniality, a title given to the contestant that is most friendliest and
pays more attention to other contestants, helps them where they have fallen short, for
Pearl Williams, also University Ambassador, this gesture of helping people is vital in the
creative industries because an innovative and creative individual is one that is able to
identify gaps and loopholes were other people don’t see them and tries at their level
best to fill them up.

This title is truly Pearl Williams’ because she is a friendly person indeed, according to
her friends, she is an individual who is always concerned about other people, she is
always looking after other persons, she is interested in making sure they are welcomed
well and they are comfortable.
