There are times when we carry power and not even realize how much of it we have until we are given an opportunity to express ourselves. Limkokwing University gave this opportunity to 66 young Batswana as they graduated with their degrees. This is the largest group of graduates from Botswana to graduate from Limkokwing University Malaysia. Students receiving their degrees were from different disciplines including graphic design and mass communication. This graduation ceremony created an atmosphere of emotions filled with power, challenge to change and zeal towards prosperity.
As the ceremony began one could feel the emotions of the students in the University’s Hall of Fame; the joy of them having accomplished what they had come here for and not being able to share their moment of success with their families. However, because of the battle they fought, the Limkokwing environment created an opportunity to make new families away from home.
It was clear through the speeches that were delivered by the students representing. They expressed the empowerment they attained from this university which they will not only try to implement when they get into the industry, but they will live.
Joseph Mothibi, a Mass Communication graduate, said, “My stay here in Limkokwing gave me opportunities to interact with a vast variety of people with different characteristics, ethnicities and beliefs. I am now able to return back to the motherland (Botswana) with a new and better perspective of life. And I have the amazing, ever so inspiring atmosphere that is Limkokwing to thank for.”
One of the graduates, Plentiful Tin Guan, said, “All you have to do is believe in yourself. And one day, you will make a difference. I am now proud to say my name. I am Plentiful, thank you!” A clear indication that in every human being, there is an assignment to complete and assignments come on a daily basis, a challenge that Batswana graduates showed as they spoke about their journeys towards achieving their degrees.”
The experience for all present was a “wow” moment, a chance to reflect on the power of the mind and the ability to influence positive behavior in order to get desired results. They have built a foundation and created a mileage that the next group of Batswana to graduate would have to seriously consider building a golden wall on.
Limkokwing University founder and President summarized in his farewell remarks: “Achieving the impossible will become the mainstay of the future and young people implanted with this dynamic mindset are the ones who will herald greater innovations and inventions that will re-invent the world.”
