CYBERJAYA: “The award is for my family who has made a lot of sacrifices for me,” said Emy Juita Ismail, the recipient of the President’s High Achievers Award at the graduation ceremony of Limkokwing University of Creative Technology.
However, the diploma graduate in architecture technology from the university’s Faculty of Architecture and Built Environment regretted that her father could not share her success. He passed away last December.
“The loss has made me remain steadfast to prove the point that my presence at this university would fulfil his wish,” she said.
“I am fortunate that my mother’s guidance, support from my brothers and sisters and assistance from my lecturers have helped me overcome my sadness and motivated me to get the award.”
Emy, who now works at an architect’s firm in Kuala Lumpur, was one of the six students who won the prestigious award at the university’s convocation on Saturday.
According to her, her success was due to her deep interest in keeping abreast with current architecture changes locally and abroad. A native of Dusun Muda, Kota Bahru, she said she had seen rapid development in the architecture field and, as a student in that line, she had kept up with the times by reading up on new trends and doing research.
A total of 429 students from 30 countries received their degrees and diplomas. Present at the event was the university’s president, Tan Sri Dr Lim Kok Wing.
