Trio make successful switch to creative position in L’Oreal Brandstorm contest

The finals was opened to invited guests and members of the Press. It was a closely contested affair that saw 5 teams from 4 different colleges/universities competing for the L’Oreal Brandstorm Malaysia title. The event was held at Isthmus, Kuala Lumpur Northpoint Mid Valley City, on the 24th of April 2008.

L’Oreal Brandstorm is a prestigious, international marketing competition that provides students with the unique opportunity to take on the role of a marketing brand manager; a chance for them to express their creativity and marketing skills/knowledge for a real product/brand in real situation. Students are required to form teams of 3’s to improve on an existing L’Oreal brand; in this case, Vichy Suncare products.

This competition started on 21st December 2007, and was concluded on 24th April 2008. Over 180 teams participated by submitting their case studies in the 1st round. Only 5 teams made it to the National Finals.

Team ‘Switch’ from Limkokwing University of Creative Technology was led by Wilson Santoso. The other team members were Lee Sze Mun and Charles Chaw. All of them are currently in their final semesters. They did the university proud by emerging 2nd runner up in the competition. While the 1st Runner up is from IACT, and the Champion is from UKM. The Champion for National Finals will go on to compete amongst the best teams from around the globe at the International Finals in Paris, in June 2008.
