
Cyberjaya, 8 June, - A very empowering yet peaceful stage was set at the Limkokwing University of Creative Technology as Former Prime Minister Yang Amat Bahagia Tun Dr Mahatir bin Mohamad ignited, in his fiery speech, a sense of peace and fulfillment on an event, which had been solely crafted, to honor his great achievement with an Honorary Doctorate of Humanity by the Limkokwing University of Creative Technology (LUCT).
The doctorate is a gratification to Tun Dr Mahathir’s extraordinary vision and achievements in transforming Malaysia during the span of his 22-year of governance.
Known affectionately by the people as Tun M, the former Prime Minister arrived at Limkokwing and was frivolously cheered with uproar and thunderous claps from students from 100 different countries before he was escorted to the Limkokwing Worldwide to sign a time capsule for Wawasan 2020 which will be opened exactly in the next 11 years, precisely at 10am, June, 8 2020.
“He is a voice of conscience in conflict-driven, in a painfully divided world,” said LUCT Founder President Professor Emeritus Tan Sri Dato Dr Limkokwing in his opening speech before he presented the acknowledgement for Tun M’s works in humanity. So much for what his efforts to make this world a better place that the event was attended by those who find him as such an inspiration of the like of Ministers, Ambassadors, and Distinguished Guests.
After Tun M’s commemoration of the Honorary Doctorate of Humanity, he delivered an inspiring, uplifting speech for his works in Humanity, criticized disastrous inhumane wars, and educated the young generations to promote peace.
In his speech, Tun M condemned harshly wars in any forms, branding it as a threat, a destructive force that could jeopardize the very existence of human race. In the end, standing ovation and deafening claps were given to honor his heart-moving speech.
Tun Dr Mahatir was Malaysia’s longest-serving Prime Minister and one of the longest-serving Prime Minister, and one of the longest-serving leaders in Asia. During his time of governance, he was credited for engineering Malaysia’s evolution towards rigorous modernization.
As a closure to this event, 100 students from 100 different countries, each in their traditional costumes, were singing gloriously to a song called “Wings to Fly” to honor and entertain Tun M and his wife, Tun Dr Siti Hasmah, for their immense achievement.
Limkokwing has previously conferred three globally well-known icons with the Honorary Doctorate of Humanity.
In June 2008, former South African President Nelson Mandela was awarded the doctorate in Humanity in Johannesburg, South Africa, while Dr Festus G. Mogae, the former president of the Republic of Botswana received his award in February 2008 before current Malaysian Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Najib Tun Razak was conferred the Honorary Doctorate in Social Transformation.
