Former President Festus Mogae and Professor Emeritus Tan Sri Dato’ Dr. Lim Kok Wing, Director of Limkokwing University have pleaded with Limkokwing University graduates to venture in to entrepreneurship and put Botswana on the world map with what they have learnt at the University.

“I expect to see new companies from the backbone of the Botswana creative sector with new writers, animators, web designers, video and film editors, digital artists, translating the wealth of their know ledge into content that will flood the world ,” Mogae said.

Mogae was officiating as the guest of honour at Limkokwing’s first graduation ceremony since the university opened its doors some three year s ago.

The former President reminded the graduating students that they have been equipped with skills and knowledge to engage in the process of creativity saying it was now time for them to put them to use.

“You form an important equation in the eco-system that Botswana must develop so that our nation is able to effectively harness the creativity of its people. This is your time to fly. Fly high my children and make us proud. I place my blessings upon each and every one of you,” Mogae said.

Mogae said the biggest promise that Limkokwing made was to build the human capital for Botswana to plan its way forward.

“Today this has come true at this graduation. What we are witnessing today is the future of Botswana as represented by these graduating
students,” he said.

Professor Lim Kok Wing told graduates that social networking sites such as Facebook were created by very young people when they were barely out of school and totally unconventional in the way they perceive things.

“If they can do it, you can do it. Give you yourself a purpose and get on with it. You are already empowered with the knowledge and skills you need to succeed. The future is anything you want it to be. What you do with it today will determine what and where you will be tomorrow Limkokwing told the graduates.

“Every step you take will either take you closer to your dream, or move you away from it. You will do well to make the best use of every single day and every opportunity that comes your way. The future has always been and will always be defined by people who have an unwavering sense of purpose and an unshakeable sense of accomplishment,” he said.
