Yang Berhormat Larry Sng, Minister in the Sarawak Chief Minister’s Office for Economic Planning and Industrial Development paid a visit to Limkokwing’s Borneo campus recently. The purpose of the visit revolved around a collaboration between him and Limkokwing through the Larry Sng Education Fund (LSEF), as well as looking at the possible ways that both parties can work together in regards to youth programs. Sng was especially interested to find out how Limkokwing will be able to help the ministry to engage youths.

One of the items on Sng’s agenda was in regards to preparations for the roadshow that LICT will be conducting in Kapit from 5th to 8th February. He was briefed on the preparations and also confirmed his participation in the roadshow, with scheduled appearances on the 6th and 7th. He was also there to brief the design team on the logo design for the government-initiated Program Survey Belia 2010 which will be held on the 10th February at Limkokwing’s Borneo campus with the final design gaining approval from the ministry.

Attendees to this youth survey program is expected to number approximately 500 and made up of representatives from several government departments and youth agencies as well as school and college students. YB Dato Sri William Mawan, Minister of Social Development and Urbanisation, will officially launch the logo and the youth survey program. Sng had personally approached Limkokwing for help in regards to the official launch of Program Survey Belia 2010.

The Larry Sng Education Fund is especially tailored to assist school leavers from Sng’s constituency to further their tertiary studies at a higher education institute of their choice, be it in Sarawak or overseas. Sng indicated that he will assist those who are successfully enrolled at Limkokwing with financial help when it comes to accommodation, food and transport.

Limkokwing Borneo was launched on the 19th February last year by the Chief Minister of Sarawak, YAB Pehin Sri Haji Abdul Taib Mahmud. It is one of the 12 Limkokwing campuses located across three continents and contributes to Limkokwing University’s global reach and network of staff and students from 150 countries. Limkokwing Borneo offers several diploma and degree courses in design, architecture, communications, business and information technology. It is currently offering 3+0 degree programmes in partnership with Anglia Ruskin University.
