In recognition of his contribution to tertiary education and the content industry, the European Union bestows two honours – Professor Emeritus for the Chair of Innovative Management and Degree of Doctor of Civil Laws – on Tan Sri Dato’ Professor Dr Lim Kok Wing
“A well-known business personality in Malaysia, Tan Sri Dato’ Professor Dr Lim Kok Wing is a highly talented man with a multitude of artistic skills. He was recently selected as Malaysia’s sole entry for the global Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Awards in Monte Carlo. He has a dynamic track record spanning some 40 years as a successful strategic communications specialist, a branding consultant and president of a reputable international university -- the Limkokwing University of Creative Technology.
Tan Sri Lim is well known for his innovative approach to education and his industry-within-university has successfully created new lifestyle brands for franchising.
In addition to pioneering creative education, he has set up the Malaysia Design Innovation Centre to position Malaysia as a design and creative hub in Southeast Asia. He is also President of the Malaysia Content Creation Council. He is tasked to unite the currently widely dispersed content industry to strengthen their ability to market skills and capability to the global market.
Tan Sri Lim seeks to promote a design-conscious society. He endeavours to raise the quality of design through use of information design, i.e. the Kuala Lumpur International Airport, KTM Kommuter and Putra LRT.
As President of the Malaysia Design Innovation Centre, he actively promotes Malaysian design that will add value to Malaysian exports. He is instrumental in the setting up of the Malaysia Design Council and the founder/President of the Designers Guild of Malaysia.
Tan Sri Lim endeavours to instil among the young generation worldwide a culture of strategic creativity that maximizes technology to create content. He founded the Limkokwing University of Creative Technology, one of the world’s largest and most globally connected, with more than 50 of the best known universities and colleges jointly awarding diplomas and degrees.
The university has an international enrolment with 5,000 students from more than 80 countries. It promotes innovation, creativity and leadership through curricular and other self-development activities.
Tan Sri Lim also created the specialist Limkokwing Executive Leadership College to focus on information technology, computing science and E-commerce. Limkokwing and the Executive Leadership College lend strategic support to the human capital aspiration of the Multimedia Super Corridor.”
