Limkokwing University welcomed Skills Development and Vocational Training Minister HE Chandima Weerakkody on 29 Aug 2017 at the Cyberjaya Campus to discuss collaboration opportunities.

His Excellency was meeting representatives of the University to establish a Limkokwing campus presence on the island country of Sri Lanka.

He was impressed by the University’s creative and innovative learning approach that imbues multiculturalism with industry exposure.

“We have seen the practicality of Limkokwing University and how the University has contributed to the advancement in Malaysia and other countries,” he said.

“With the exposure to various cultures, students get a fine-tuned balance psychology and their talent comes out,” he explained while adding that opportunity is presented through character development and thinking freely.

Limkokwing University’s recent partnership with the UK Accreditation Services for International Colleges (ASIC) to develop a skill-based certificate under the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) would open additional career opportunities for students in the country.

According to His Excellency, technical and vocational students were often overlooked by industry professionals which had left a lot of untapped potential.

“They are the future of any country,” he said. “So that is where the talent is and that is the segment of society that needs to be sharpened up.”

He also added that for the University to establish its international presence within the island country would be timely as Sri Lankans value talent as an important source of pride and prosperity.

“We can learn from other people’s experience,” he said in regards to the collaboration with Limkokwing University.

The collaboration will benefit Sri Lankan students and enable them to contribute with their talent globally. This opportunity will also allow the international community to uncover more hidden potential in the country.

Limkokwing is a multicultural educational institution that values national and social development. The University collaborates with governments and other organisations to encourage economic growth and expansion through creativity and innovation.
