Limkokwing Lesotho held its 2014 graduation recently, with 824 graduands receiving their scrolls.

The 20th of November marked an important milestone for 824 creative young minds who were graduating from Limkokwing University. The graduation ceremony was held at Lehakoe Recreational Centre with high ranking government officials, including the Deputy Prime Minister, Honourable Mothejoa Metsing and Minister of Education and Training, Mrs. Makabelo Mosothoane in attendance.

The industry ready cohort of graduates received diplomas and degrees in various disciplines that have provided them with skills and knowledge necessary to grow and develop the country’s economy, a fact Honourable Metsing said was long overdue. He conveyed the Prime Minister’s satisfaction with the University, and thanked Limkokwing University Founder and President, Tan Sri Limkokwing for opening the University in Lesotho.

“We, the people of Lesotho are indeed privileged that in your wisdom, you have decided to share your knowledge and principles with our youth by establishing Limkokwing University of Creative Technology Lesotho,” he said.

Minister Mosothoane also congratulated the graduates and commended the University for changing the education landscape in Lesotho. She said the graduation ceremony was not only a celebration for the graduates and their families, but also for the rest of the country, especially for the Ministry of Education and Training.

“As the Minister directly involved in the nurturing of young talent, this day marks success for the Ministry of Education and Training also,” she said.

She added that the workplace has now evolved to demand skill and aptitude from all stakeholders, thus a 21st century education system that trains students in such competencies is highly necessary.

“The fast evolving workplace is placing great demands on the capabilities of not just employees but also all who support the business – from consultants, agents, suppliers and many others.  All of whom must be able to respond to economic needs and social issues with the best solutions,” she said.

Outstanding students were given awards of recognition for their hard work and unwavering dedication to their studies and school activities during the ceremony.

Ntsane Lepholisa, a recipient of the ‘Tan Sri Limkokwing Award for Leadership’ said he was grateful for the recognition of his hard work and was motivated to keep the same spirit throughout his life. He said the University’s focus on cultivating young minds was encouraging, and will help many young people succeed in life.

“There are a precious few organisations where youth development is truly nurtured, and Limkokwing University is at the forefront,” he said.

Public Relations graduate Kananelo Phakisi said they as graduates were ready to bring new ideas to the industry and take it to new heights. She said the University delivers quality education, with adept, industry ready graduates as proof.

“It goes without saying that Limkokwing is above the rest, its promise for quality education and introduction to advanced technology has been kept and I believe we are proof of that”

More students praised the University for equipping them with skills that have saved them from a mediocre future at best, as now they can look forward to great future possibilities, including competing in international platforms.
