Senior supply chain manager at Swaziland Post and Telecommunications Bongani Chauke, gave Limkokwing Swaziland students a talk on supply chain management and its opportunities.

Mr. Chauke has 15 years of supply chain sector experience and has worked for local corporate giants such as the Royal Swaziland Sugar Corporation (RSSC), Ubombo Sugar (Illovo Sugar Corporation), and Swaziland Revenue Authority (SRA).

The Swaziland Post and Telecommunications Corporation (SPTC) was established in 1986 under the Ministry of Information, Communications and Technology. The organisation is made up of two business units, SwaziTelecom and SwaziPost.

SwaziTelecom provides a spectrum of global telecommunication services with direct dialling to over 200 countries and a 24-hour operator assisted service, while SwaziPost is Swaziland’s prime mover of written communications and parcels with services comprising of ordinary and registered mail, a courier, and freight moving.

In attendance at the talk were Limkokwing University’s Faculty of Business and Globalisation students and staff.

Themed ‘Creating Value by Leveraging the Supply Chain’ the talk addressed value addition and creation, various forms of value for firms and customers within the supply chain as well as management and marketing logistics.

When speaking about how to maximise benefits available along the supply chain, Chauke said this could be done in a few ways such as the better use and sharing of information, clear knowledge about customers’ demand and need of goods and services, the ability to respond quickly to market dynamics, and the lowering of production costs and purchase prices. He also spoke extensively about demand and how supply chain management functions to manage relationships between suppliers and customers.

Lastly he advised students on how to choose the best distribution channel for an organisation or business, and thanked Limkokwing University for giving him the opportunity to be a guest lecturer.

Students then engaged in a question and answer session with Mr. Bongani Chauke, enquiring about careers in the procurement industry.
