FELDA graduates from Limkokwing University showcased their achievements during the Expresi Felda Negaraku Malaysia event that was held on 21 July in Putrajaya, Malaysia.
The Federal Land Development Authority (FELDA) is a government initiative that was established for the development of land and relocation with the objective of poverty eradication through the cultivation of palm oil and rubber. FELDA’s function is to carry out land development projects and agricultural activities, industrial and commercial social economy.
Students from the FELDA communities are locals from rural parts of Malaysia.
As Limkokwing University students, they were able to gain industry exposure as well as cultural awareness through the University’s unique learning approach and multicultural environment.
“The University gave me confidence to build my own business,” said FELDA graduate and Limkokwing University alumni Siti Mastura Mohamad Saleh.
After completing her degree in BA (Hons) Fashion & Retailing, she began her career as a muslimah model and fashion designer for her own brand, Mashijjah Couture.
Siti explained that the business knowledge she gained from the University helped her to prepare for the industry.
“This makes it easier for students prepare themselves for the workforce,” she added.
She also praised the University’s experienced educators for being very supportive of her passion and providing her with insights, ideas and knowledge that reflects current industry trends.
This gave her an advantage and enabled her to utilise her experience during her final project presentation to promote her brand.
“My customers like my design collection because of this.”
Limkokwing University has been providing FELDA students with multicultural experience and industry exposure. Graduates gain a competitive advantage in local as well as international environment.
