The Limkokwing Faculty of Fashion and Lifestyle Creativity's graduating class of 2016 showcased their creations to an eager audience on 19 June at Black Box, Publika Solaris Dutamas.

Themed “History Re-imagined,” this semester’s line-up of designs saw 11 students play with proportions, innovate with materials and incorporate striking prints into a diverse, exciting series of collections. 60 garments were showcased by 25 student models from over 15 countries. The Limkokwing Fashion Club also showcased its latest collection in conjunction with the fashion show.

Notable attendees at the fashion were; Famous blogger, Dato’ Kee Hua Chee; Founder and Chief Creative Officer of BON Fashion Legacy Sdn Bhd, Bon Zainal; Singer, TV/Radio Host Alexis Sue-Ann; Editor In Trend Magazine, Vee Iqbal and representatives from the Lesotho Embassy, Zalora, L ‘Oreal Paris, Miko Gallery, Street Fashion KL and Stylo International.

Also present were Limkokwing University Vice President Corporate Development, Dato Gail Phung and Limkokwing Vice President Brand Creativity and Talent Development, Dato’ Tiffanee Marie Lim.

The guests praised students for their high level of technical execution and creativity, also commented on show-worthy garments being underpinned by sellable, wearable pieces.

“This year’s creativity in motion blew my mind because I got to witness how much potential Limkokwing University students have; I have not seen one design that I did not like today, everything was so detailed from the trims to the materials. I was really impressed,” said Hitz.fm Radio/TV Host and Singer Alexis Sue-Ann.

On how Creativity in Motion fashion show benefits graduates in preparation for the industry, Limkokwing University Vice President Brand Creativity and Talent Development, Dato’ Tiffanee Marie Lim said, “It’s important as a young designer to know how to promote yourself and how to create a certain personality for your product. Before you build your own brand one has to understand what they want to accomplish; Creativity in Motion is one of the many opportunities for this at Limkokwing University.”

“Limkokwing University graduates are practically minded, this sets them apart from the rest and perhaps this is why they are highly sought after by the industry,” she added.

Founder & Chief Creative Officer of BON Fashion Legacy Sdn Bhd, Bon Zainal applauded Limkokwing University for being the only one with its own fashion label. “Limkokwing is the only University in Malaysia that has its own fashion label created by students with stores in Bali, UK and soon to be in Africa; this is testament of how successful and talented Limkokwing students are,” Zainal said.

“It was magical and amazing to see my designs on the runway, I am really grateful to Limkokwing University for giving me an opportunity to show and prove my creativity,” said Wira Heri Pramata, a Diploma in Fashion and Retail Design graduate.
