“The proudest people here must be the parents, I congratulate you, if not for you, we will not be here today,” he continued.

The excited crowd cheered enthusiastically as the graduates went on stage to receive their scrolls. Towards the end of the convocation, the University recognised those students who had shown outstanding qualities in various fields throughout their studies. The outstanding students received awards in four categories of: Dato Sri Najib Tun Abdul Razak Award for Creativity and Innovation, Tan Sri Dato Sri Paduka Limkokwing Award for Leadership, Tan Sri Dato Sri Paduka Limkokwing Award for Excellence, and the Chancellor’s Award.

The happy graduates said they were ready to take on the world.

“The industry out there is bigger than what is in the books, and lucky for me, in Limkokwing University, I have been exposed to industry expectations and standards, so I’m quite confident of my chances in the industry,” she said.

He went on to say that Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing was most deserving to be Malaysia’s ‘Father of Innovation’, going on to call him “father of creative global education.”

He also applauded the University not only in education, but in its philanthropic work, mentioning the recent donations given to underprivileged children, and scholarship for the media in Botswana and Lesotho.

“This is the only university in Malaysia, be it private or public, that is creative and innovative, not only in education, but also in charity towards the people worldwide,” he continued.

Another honorary doctorate was bestowed upon Dato’ Farah Khan, a trendsetting entrepreneur who has put Malaysia in the forefront of the fashion industry by introducing Malaysian culture and heritage to the world.
