Dato′ Professor Sulaiman bin Osman

He is the Executive Chairman of his own motivational company, “Hidup Positif Sdn Bhd” which he formed in early 1992 and has given numerous motivational lectures to thousands of staff of public and private sector organisations in the country.

He was born in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 19th February 1937. He received his early Malay, Islamic and English education in Kuala Lumpur and completed his secondary education at the Malay College Kuala Kangsar. He received his tertiary education at the University of Malaya, then in Singapore, in Liberal Arts (from 1957 – 1960) and post-graduate education at Cornell University, USA in Motivational Studies (from 1971 -1973).

He served the Government of Malaysia in a variety of posts at the District, State and Federal levels. He was at one time the District Officer of Kuala Selangor, the Deputy Chairman and Director-General of MARA (a Government statutory body to assist the indigenous people), the Director-General of Social Security Organisation (SOCSO), the State Secretary of Selangor and his final post before his compulsory retirement at the then age of 55 was as the Deputy Secretary–General 1 (Finance) of the Ministry of Health, Malaysia.

He used to be active in social work. He was the Founder–Chairman of the Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia (AIM), a private trust that gives out small loans to the very poor (modeled after the Grameen Bank of Bangladesh), from 1986 until 2000. Today there are over 300,000 poor families that have benefited from the Scheme.

He has been the Deputy Chairman of the Limkokwing University of Creative Technology since early 1992, just after its inception. He was made a Professor in 2006 for his long service to the university, which included giving motivational lectures to both student and staff.
