Dato′ Leela Mohd Ali, (B.Ed. (TESL), M. Sc.) is currently the CEO and Trustee of Yayasan Budi Penyayang Malaysia (PENYAYANG), a charitable organization. Through PENYAYANG she has helped to conceptualise and implement programes to profile the late YABhg. Datin Seri Endon as the wife of Malaysia′s fifth Prime Minister, YAB Dato′ Seri Abdullah Hj. Ahmad Badawi.

Dato′ Leela Mohd Ali, (B.Ed. (TESL), M. Sc.) is currently the CEO and Trustee of Yayasan Budi Penyayang Malaysia (PENYAYANG), a charitable organization.

Through PENYAYANG, she has helped to conceptualise and implement programes to profile the late YABhg. Datin Seri Endon, as the wife of Malaysia′s fifth Prime Minister, YAB Dato′ Seri Abdullah Hj. Ahmad Badawi.

Leela, spearheads the Nyonya Kebaya Travelling Exhibition, which comprises the late YABhg. Datin Seri Endon′s collection of vintage nyonya kebaya and the Malaysia Batik Crafted for the World Movement which strives to ensure the long-term relevance, growth and progress of the batik industry locally and internationally.

It is also through Leela′s firm belief and tireless effort that PENYAYANG has been able to undertake, research into natural dyes for batik production.

She started her career in Education as a teacher 1950, serving in more than ten schools, both rural and urban. She served as a teacher, educator and trainer of trainers and retired as the Assistant Director in-charge of English at the Technical and Vocational Division of the Ministry of Education in 1994.

During her tenure with the Ministry of Education, she served as curriculum developer for schools and teacher education. She also spearheaded the development of the syllabuses for English For Specific / Occupational Purposes for Malaysian Polytechnics.

She has been actively involved with youth and community work and is currently working on programmes to promote family values; and to foster understanding and appreciation of Malaysian culture and heritage.

She is currently a member of the Majlis Penasihat Fakulti Sains Sosial dan Kemanusiaan Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, and she also serves as Adjunct Prof. at Limkokwing University of Creative Technology (LUCT).

Other positions she currently holds are Director of Batik Guild Sdn Bhd, Director of Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (KLPAC), Trustee of Yaysan Canselor Open University Malaysia (OUM), Chairman, Persatuan Batik Malaysia and President, World Batik Council.
