More than 50 booths were set up to represent various countries during the Malaysia’s International Cultural Festival 2017 that was held on 4 May 2017 at the Limkokwing University Campus in Cyberjaya.

Each booth represented various aspects of students’ cultural heritage and national identity while encouraging multicultural understanding between different countries as well as creating global networking opportunities.

The festival gave visitors the opportunity to experience travelling the world by purchasing a passport that could be stamped in each booth they visited.

Here is what representatives from various countries had to say about the International Cultural Festival 2017.

“I was able to introduce my country to people who did not know about it,” said Deisi Sphaho, student ambassador from Albania who is studying Bachelor of Business (Hons) in Human Resource Management. She also added that being a small country in Southeast Europe, Albania has natural attractions such as the Albanian mountains, cultural traditions and rich archaeological history, which she was able to showcase.

“You can meet new people while making friends from several countries,” said Spanish student Maria Wolfe Hernandez-Ros who is studying Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Animation.

“It was a great pleasure to be part of this year’s festival and share our identity with students from other cultures,” said Brazilian student Thiago Vanderlei who is studying Bachelor of Business (Hons) in International Business. “We get to learn new things about different cultures and come together to make new friends.”

“This is the perfect place and time to enrich others about different cultures,” said Russian student Liza Al-Dhobai who is studying Bachelor of Arts in Creative Multimedia. “It makes me proud to showcase my culture because many people don’t know much about different countries.”

“This event enables us to showcase our university’s multicultural identity,” said Pakistan Student Community President Najia Sarfraz who is studying Bachelor of Business (Hons) in International Business. “You get to know what other cultures are there and you can learn much from them.”

“We could meet people from around the world while developing our communication and networking skills,” said China’s student ambassador Yawen Ma who is studying Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Broadcasting & Journalism.

“Cultural Festival is important here because it exposes us to the global village,” said Swaziland student Mcebo Morris Dlamini who is studying Information Technology. “This gives us the platform to appreciate different values and diversity in cultures.”

“It feels amazing knowing that there are a lot of cultures in one place,” said Iraqi student Zaynab Mazin who is studying Diploma in Animation and Multimedia. “It’s very nice to know more about other countries and meet the people.”

Limkokwing University has students from 150 countries providing them with global networking opportunities and multicultural awareness. This enables graduates to experience international exposure and be prepared to compete in a global environment.
