Architecture Innovation

Architecture

The Global University Campus programme is a month1 of immersive education in one of the most multicultural, advanced and vibrant cities in the world: London. The city serves as a hotbed for innovations in music, fashion, entertainment, banking, design and architecture. It also serves as the corporate headquarters for some of the world’s biggest and most well-known brands.

Students who sign up for the programme will be grouped under the Architecture, Business, and Design categories, ensuring that each trip is streamlined for your major area of interest. Eight trips are scheduled every year, with a minimum of 30 students per trip.

1 - The programme runs for approximately 23 days.

Why join the Architecture Stream?

London is considered one of the best sites to visit for architecture students and design enthusiasts. The city is home to an eclectic mix of historical and contemporary structures, accumulated over centuries and featuring diverse architectural styles.

It has four UNESCO World Heritage Sites: the 900+ years old Tower of London; the Royal Botanic Gardens, which showcases some of the best in landscape architecture; the Westminster Palace and its world famous clock tower, Big Ben; and Maritime Greenwich, the “home” of time and the prime meridian.

The city is home to some of the biggest names in architecture and their award-winning works. Most notably, Pritzker Architecture Prize and Stirling Prize winners Norman Foster, Richard Rogers and Zaha Hadid.

Modern structures like the 2012 Olympics’ O2 arena, The Shard (currently the tallest building in the European Union), London’s spherical City Hall, and Siemens’ The Crystal feature the latest in green architecture and avant-garde design.

By taking part in the Global University Campus programme, students are exposed to the diverse architectural influences of London. Here, you will see up close the design, understand the principles behind it, and experience the practical functionality of the city’s structures—past, present and future.
