Limkokwing University won 1st place in the education/training institutions’ category for excellence at the Swaziland International Trade Fair, making it the second time the institution had won the prize consecutively.

The Fair was held on the 29th August until the 5th September at Mavuso Trade Centre in Manzini. It is an annual event providing a strategic and focused trade platform that showcases the latest and most innovative in goods and services. It provides a one-stop-shop where all exhibitors and visitors are able to mingle and network in one place, creating business connections and trade opportunities.

It was officially opened by His Majesty King Mswati III, who visited the Limkokwing stall. Among other notables who visited the Limkokwing stall was His Majesty King Goodwill Zwelithini of the Kingdom of KwaZulu, Deputy Prime Minister; Honourable Paul Dlamini, and the Minister of Sports, Culture & Youth Affairs; David Ngcamphalala, who were all impressed by the design and presentation of the booth and the enthusiasm of the staff.

The Fair, which is the largest exhibition based event in Swaziland, boasted 187 stalls of both local and international enterprises exhibiting their products and services this year. It had various categories which companies vied for the top prize in, Limkokwing University participating under the ‘Training/education Institutions’ category. The University was going against some of Swaziland’s top training and education organizations, and came out top.

Last year at the same event, the University won top spot in the same category, and also got a recognition for their creatively laid out stall, receiving an excellence award for ‘Best Exhibition Stand (Design).’

The University’s approach to education is one worth a mention and deserving accolades, as it breaks away from the traditional book-centric approach, rather providing students with hands-on education that prepares them for life after University. Through the University, students are exposed to industry skills and knowledge as they frequently get to visit leading company premises to learn from them, or have industry leaders come to the University to give talks, sharing their experience on how students can better equip themselves for the working world.
