A large number of students, both local and international showed up for the brief, and were eager to participate in the challenge. A Cambodian Global Classroom student studying International Business, Sean Phosrottey, said: “This is a great opportunity, and the cash prizes are really awesome, but it’s also the experience one will gain going through this challenge. I am here for the Global Classroom, and since my country Cambodia is participating, I would like to take part too.”

“I am very excited about this competition, we seldom have competitions that cater for us business students, and this is a big one, an international competition, it’s really exciting,” said Mokhtar Mohammed, a Marketing student from Yemen.

A lot of students registered for the challenge at the end of the brief.

The Business Faculty was enthusiastic about the competition, which is among the many industry involvement Limkokwing University provides students, giving them industry experience, and a chance to challenge themselves beyond their imagination.

“This challenge is exposing students to a different environment, allowing them to have an experience in working in a large organisation like Maybank. The students get to learn more about socializing, communicating and managing stress, they experiencing real life working standards.” said Hashem Zarafat, Business Faculty Lecturer.

He adds “The stakes in the Maybank Go Ahead challenge is huge, as students get to deal with a large sum of money and job opportunity at stake, rather than marks in a classroom”.

Selected participants will undergo two National Level challenges, and the top 50 participants will go forward to the Grand Finale which will be held in Kuala Lumpur. At the grand finale, participants will be put in groups where they will have to do projects.

The tasks of the project are highly relevant to the real business environment, since participants will get insights into the industry through the analysis of real issues.

The Grand prize will be USD30, 000 for the winning team, with the first runner up receiving USD20, 000, and the second runner up getting USD10, 000.

The top 50 finalists also stand a chance to join Maybank’s Apprentice programme, an exclusive two-year programme where apprentices get a learning experience through on-the-job training working with Maybank.
