Ricardo said the amount of practical experience he is getting through the Bachelor of Arts (Hons) of Creative Imaging in Digital Photography programme is a perfect grounding to kick start his career.

“I first came to Malaysia in 2011, because I have always been interested in exploring the Asian culture. Malaysia seemed like a perfect fit because of its diversity. It is somewhat similar to Colombia in terms of weather and the multicultural factor.”

Studying in a Globalised University

“I feel lucky to have chosen Limkokwing University as my place of study; it has such an intriguing environment with students from all corners of the world. Here, I had the opportunity to look deeper and enhance my self-awareness because I learn from people with different backgrounds.”

“I believe learning from people whose backgrounds and experiences differ from your own sharpens your self-knowledge and self-insight by allowing you to compare and contrast your life experiences with others whose life experiences differ sharply from your own. By being more self-aware, you are more capable of making informed decisions about your academic and professional future.”

Tailor-made Curriculum

“Studying photography at Limkokwing University is refreshing because of its creative way of learning; students are given the freedom to express themselves in projects or assignments given. Additionally the curriculum is based on current trends of the industry. This translates well with photography because it is a challenging subject; you have to be really up beat with the latest trends.”

“Throughout the semester, we are taught by recognised industry experts through talks, workshops and competitions. This keeps us busy and on top of the industry requirements.”

Enhanced Employability

“My personal achievements studying in Limkokwing University are quite vast. One of them is having the opportunity to be a student ambassador which I had been for 3 years. I took part in a lot of campaigns that bring awareness to urgent global concerns for example ‘The Heal the World’ campaign, where we work with students to raise funds to help countries that are grief stricken.”

“Nowadays employers are seeking for well rounded graduates, who are culturally savvy, confident and can think out of the box. That is what I am molded to be at Limkokwing University because learning is not only in the classroom.”

Future Plans

“I want to be a photographer who will move people with my art. So after I graduate I plan on travelling around the world and apply what I learned into the work I’ll be doing at the time. I want to leave my mark on whichever country I travel to.”

“I already have an idea of what each country I would like to travel to is like, mainly because of the exposure I get in Limkokwing University. The University combines the world in one place.”
