To further strengthen educational ties between Malaysia and Maldives, Public Service Media (PSM) recently signed a memorandum of understanding with Limkokwing University.

Under the agreement, Limkokwing will offer diploma and degree level programmes to students at the Maldives Media Institute.

The signing ceremony was attended by Dato’ Gail Phung, Limkokwing Senior Vice President; Managing Director of Public Service Media, Mr. Ibrahim Khaleel; and Public Service Media’s Director E- Commerce and Marketing, Mr. Ibrahim Nasreen.

Public Service Media also serves as a strategic media partner for the Limkokwing International Cultural Festival.

Highlighting the importance of partnering with Limkokwing, Mr. Khaleel acknowledged that the University is an ideal place to educate and train Public Service Media staff.

“Limkokwing is very different from many other universities in Malaysia, perhaps the rest of the world. For a media company like PSM, we play a very important role in the community to educate, inform and entertain, but first we must understand how we do all that effectively. Through the University’s slogan ‘Design your Future,’ we can learn how to address upcoming trends to diligently serve the community.”

A Great Journey

For Mr. Nasreen, a Limkokwing alumnus in Professional Design, the 2018 cultural festival was bigger and better than during his days at the Cyberjaya campus.

Recounting his time at Limkokwing, he said, “It was a great journey to experience the global campus and global experience with multicultural university students. I was studying with students from Botswana, Zambia, Kenya, Iran, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Maldives. I got to experience different cultures, values and at the same time being given the opportunity to explore creativity beyond boundaries.”

He added that Limkokwing’s creative method of teaching differentiates it from all other universities.

Limkokwing University is listed among the top universities which the Maldivian government is interested to collaborate with, in terms of sending fully-sponsored students abroad to gain international exposure.
