Lord Jonathan Marland, the Chairman of the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council (CWEIC), visited the Limkokwing University of Creative Technology Cyberjaya campus on 17 December 2018.

The CWEIC was established in July 2014 with the support of the Commonwealth Secretariat and member Governments to be the Commonwealth’s top business organisation.

It is a non-profit organisation with a mandate from Commonwealth Heads of Government to promote intra Commonwealth trade, investment and the role of the private sector across the 52 member countries.

Lord Marland was brought on a tour around campus by Senior Vice Presidents, YM Dato’ Raja Aznil Raja Hisham and Dato’ Gail Phung.

The visit was intended to forge ties between Limkokwing University and CWEIC.

“This multicultural University recognizes human beings as human beings no matter what their creed, background, or nature they are from. This is important to sustain the world moving forward, as the world will become a place of revolution,” said Lord Marland during his speech after visiting the Presidential Library and Branding Gallery.

“There is so much similarity between the Commonwealth and this University, we embrace the outward-looking, nation-building, cross-nation, diversity, and we are both a tolerant society, which is a wonderful thing to behold,” he added.

Apart from his work with the Commonwealth, Lord Marland previously served as Trade Envoy for the British Prime Minister, Minister for Energy and Climate Change and Business, Innovation and Skills, and Treasurer of the Conservative Party.

He was awarded a life peerage in 2006 as Baron Marland, of Odstock in the County of Wiltshire, and in 2015, he was awarded the Order of Merit of Malta.
