"I strongly believe that experience is more valuable than having a degree and Limkokwing has been that platform that made me discover my very own hidden abilities."

Iman Azma from Brunei Darussalam, holds a Bachelor of Arts in Film, Television and Advertising, as well as in Event Management, graduating in December 2013, and June 2016, respectively.

Iman was abroad in Perth, Australia completing her Diploma studies before making a decision to enrol in Limkokwing University, after hearing about the twinning programs. On how she discovered her passion that led her to her current career path, Iman said it was the moment she joined the Limkokwing International Student Ambassadors Program. “I was put in a situation where I had to manage events which I was pretty much clueless about, but thankfully I was able to pull through,” she said.

Iman said joining Limkokwing was one of the greatest decisions she has ever made and she is very thankful for all the opportunities she was exposed to, during her tenure here. “I came to Limkokwing with a mindset of wanting to hide inside a shell, but the opposite happened, when they pulled me out of my shell and made me realise my inner strengths,” Iman said.

Iman said if it was not for the Ambassadors Program, she would still be clueless about her future.

During her days at Limkokwing, Iman played a key role in big events like Cultural Nights, UNICEF initiatives supported by the University through the Heal the World Campaign, dance and fashion shows, and emceeing for various shows. She was even part of the main organising committee for the Cultural Festival for three consecutive years.

Iman currently works with AirAsia, mainly running events under the Group Communications which handles regional market.

Iman said that as of now, she is working on a year long campaign promoting AirAsia as the only low cost airline that has the most extensive networks across ASEAN and also handling the communications side of an Anti-Trafficking Campaign.

“I strongly believe that experience is more valuable than having a degree and Limkokwing has been that platform that made me discover my very own hidden abilities,” said Iman.

Some of the skills that Iman picked up during her days at Limkokwing was to be able to work under pressure and handling last minute assignments.

“University is where you learn, whereas the industry is where you shine.”

When asked to define success, Iman said that it means to make steady moves day by day and she thinks that if one is able to make it through the day, then that’s already a success. To her, failure means to not even bother trying and giving up easily. “Limkokwing was like a home to me, never for a second have I felt out of place in this highly diversified environment,” said Iman.
