Limkokwing University’s Vice President of Brand Creativity and Talent Development Dato’ Tiffanee Marie Lim gave over 200 fashion students her expert insights on managing international runway shows during an industry talk on 9 April 2019 at Branding Gallery, Cyberjaya campus.

Citing the prestigious London Fashion Week students gained a deeper understanding of fashion, retail and what it takes to run a successful showcase.

The talk began with slide shows and video presentations of the London Fashion Week 2019 held on 17 February 2019 at the Freemasonry Hall, England and it ended with an extensive question-and-answer (Q&A) sessions.

“To manage international runway shows such as London Fashion Week is not difficult but exhausting. We need to make a good rapport with the model, hair stylist, agent, and others involved. The agent would want to get confirmation as soon as possible, but the model can simply pull out just like that and it is not easy to find a suitable replacement suitable for your personality and your work in just 16 minutes before the show starts.”

Dato’ Tiffanee emphasised the importance of being well prepared for the show to counter unexpected changes.

“It is kind of interesting because there is a different rush for the final preparation, and all transport goes to London so we need to make sure we bring everything,” she said
According to her, London Fashion Week is the best platform for all fashion students to showcase their projects at an international level.

“I encourage you to join the London Fashion Week. With this international experience, students will get a job faster and be paid more.”

Addressing the Misr University for Science and Technology students who came for Global Campus programme in Limkokwing University Cyberjaya Dato Tiffanee said, “Hopefully we can start Limkokwing diploma and degree programme at Cairo, so the next Limkokwing fashion week will be held in Egypt; amazing, stunning, and historic place,” she concluded.

Limkokwing University student Nadia Shalini, finds the London Fashion Week as an unforgettable memory.

“London Fashion Week is where you can experience top to bottom process, from production process, fitting and cutting, makeup and hair to a design process driven by Dato’ Tiffanee and lecturers,” said Nadia, who was delighted to visit London for the first time.

Noellynd Rajendran was pleased to participate in London Fashion Week this year.

“I thought it was very easy but it was massive and bigger than I imagined.  From fitting to be at the back stage, the whole process is amazing,” she said.

Nur Qistina Zulkefli described London Fashion Week as the best moment of her life.

“I was responsible for the VVIP guess at the entrance, and was really surprised at how stylish they came to London Fashion Week with different personalities. It was definitely the best moment of my life,” she said.

Since the first show in 2012 Limkokwing University has successfully showcased extravagant designs at the London Fashion Week. The University’s designs incorporate rich cultural prints from countries, where the University’s campuses are located, to select extravagant accessories and high-end looks to highlight the values of Asian and African cultures to a global audience.
