The two-day annual International Campus Sports Fair saw a massive turnout at the Plaza, on 3 and 4 April 2018.

Students were out in full force, supporting and competing in basketball, cricket and arm wrestling, but the event that drew the largest crowd was, as usual, the futsal championship.

Besides physical sports, games such as chess and e-games were made available for those who were not as physically inclined.

The two-day fair was a fairly relaxed and casual affair, with students and visitors all geared up in their favourite sports attire.

It was a delightful sight to behold, as students from the many different faculties gathered at the Plaza in a show of support for their friends and colleagues.

Iron Hand Arm Wrestling

On the second day, the Syrian Ambassador, His Excellency Mr Tamim Madani, was warmly welcomed on campus to witness a breathtaking Iron Hand Arm Wrestling championship between the best of two worlds - Asian champ Joffey Jolly and and Limkokwing’s own Ali Alfraih, who is the Syrian champion.

It was an intense battle, in which Ali emerged victorious with a narrow 3-2 win.

Joffey definitely showed class as a champion in his own right, as he graciously shook Ali’s hand while applauding the Syrian’s fighting spirit.

H.E. Tamim Madani also applauded Ali’s relentless efforts in winning the tough battle and later presented the trophy to the newly crowned champion.

The Arm Warrior

“Ali was full of energy from the start of the game, and I respect the fighting spirit and the drive he brings to the game,” said Joffey.

Growing up watching Muay Thai and martial arts movies, a stage where he started building his passion for arm wrestling, Joffey is an experienced arm wrestler and qualified member of the Malaysia Armwrestling Association.

Joffey is also a part-time coach for aspiring arm wrestlers.

“I really like the clean environment here in Limkokwing, and it feels really good being in such a multicultural environment,” he said.

Joffey is currently gearing up for his next big challenge - the World Championship in Turkey in October 2018.

Newly-crowned Futsal Champions

In a pulsating futsal championship final, H7 squared off against the reigning champions, Royal FC B.

H7 trashed their opponents 4-1 in the highly anticipated match.

“It could never have been possible without the team effort, and to knock the reigning champions off their perch was something really special,” said H7 team captain, Abdulvaoof Saleh.

The champions were then presented with a trophy and medals by the organising student club, Limkokwing Indian Cultural Club (ICC).
