Xi Ni has always described herself as a timid and shy person, but her personality underwent a change when she made her decision to further her studies at the global university, Limkokwing University of Creative Technology, Malaysia. After two semesters, this China-born lass found a new world in Limkokwing University. Sharina Ros Kamal tells her story on how her experience in Malaysia changed her life.

Intelligent, outgoing, friendly and full of ambition: these are the perfect words to describe Xi Ni, who confesses that she now enjoys doing plenty of crazy things that enable her to achieve total happiness.

“I’ve changed so much since joining Limkokwing University, and I became more active and passionate about my study life there. I loved it,” she said, speaking of her experience as a student in public relations at Limkokwing University of Creative Technology.

“I have done so many things that I’ve never tried before, such as being an ambassador for the university and working in the Kuala Lumpur International Airport. I even did modeling for Limkokwing University and many, many other things,” said Xi Ni, who majored in Mass Communications, specializing in Public Relations.

Limkokwing University also made Xi Ni realize what she wanted to do her entire life and unveiled her inner potential. After taking up public relations studies for just several semesters, Xi Ni immediately knew that her soul belonged to the world of public relations.

The years studying in Limkokwing University has given Xi Ni a newfound sense of confidence, and she is now working as a Marketing and PR Manager for the Shanghai Asia Music Festival. One of her most successful projects was conducting a seminar for Citibank Shanghai.

Xi Ni has many reasons for choosing her current employer, but she says that her primary reason was the working ambiance, which had the same atmosphere that captured her heart while she was studying in Limkokwing University.

Keep your mind fresh, always keep up with new information in the industry and have a deep understanding about the job you are currently working with.

“The company is an art company, just like the place where I studied before. I have enough creative space to do what I want, not to mention a very flexible working environment,” said Xi Ni. With this company, she was also given a chance to interact and build good rapport with some of the new talents from Asia during an event held in Penang last year, apart from the many opportunities that she encountered.

At this moment, Xi Ni’s skills are being put to the test as she has been tasked with handling a big project on her own. Her tactic is to try out different types of marketing strategies to ensure the smoothness of the project.

Words like ‘tricky’ and ‘risky’ comes to mind when describing her current situation, but she is confident that her experience gained while at Limkokwing University should ready her for any challenge that comes crossing her path.

The institution did not just provide her with academic knowledge but also provided her with some working experience. Apart from her class routine, she worked as a part timer for Limkokwing University’s Marketing Department.

Have patience and always be honest to your company. Take responsibility for yourself and your company. Always enjoy your work, try your best and you will do good.

It was during this period that she had to face different situations and difficulties just as she is currently experiencing in her current career. It may be tough and probably will get tougher but that does not mean this Sagittarian will give up easily.

Born 19 December 1982, Xi Ni believes there is no failure for anyone as long as they continue to build up confidence and enjoy life to the fullest. Success to her, on the other hand, is the consistency to continue thriving and striving until reaching the ultimate goal.

“Keep your mind fresh, always keep up with new information in the industry and have a deep understanding about the job you are currently working with,” she advises.

“Have patience and always be honest to your company. Take responsibility for yourself and your company. Always enjoy your work, try your best and you will do good,” advises Xi Ni to those who are interested in public relations.

What about her future plans? The lady with complete belief in her own ability stated that she will just follow the flow. Whatever or wherever that might be, she will surely aim high!
