Limkokwing University‘s flagship campus graduated 1165 students from 71 countries on 2 July at Perdana Hall, PICC.

This year’s graduation theme was ‘Empowered to Transform the World’, chosen to reflect the University’s key performance index which emphasises its responsibility in delivering to the world youths trained to take their nations and the industries they work for to new heights of excellence.

In attendance were: Her Royal Highness Sultanah Pahang Sultanah Dr. Hajjah Kalsom, Limkokwing University Chancellor; His Highness Tengku Arif Temenggong Pahang, Tengku Fahd Mu’adzam Ibni Haji Ahmad Shah; Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Dr. Lim Kok Wing, Founder and President of Limkokwing University; Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Dr. Aseh Che Mat, Chair University Council; Professor Dato’ Sulaiman Osman, Deputy Chair; Dato’ Muhammad Ammir B Haron, Prime Minister’s Office, Malaysia and Honourable Dr. Mamphono Khaketla, Lesotho Minister of Finance.

Also present were representatives from embassies and high commissions, Government agencies and subsidiaries, Limkokwing industry partners, members of the media and parents.

Speaking on behalf of the University, Professor Cedric Bell, Limkokwing’s Pro Vice Chancellor congratulated graduates on the awards they have won during their time at the University.

“Class of 2016 you have indeed left your special giant footprints on the University. As a graduate of Malaysia’s most globalised University with campuses in three continents, your educational experience has been imbued with the best of Asian, African and European educational values,” he added.

The teaching and learning ecosystem of the University goes beyond the needed requirements for students to earn their degrees. The university has been designed to build and boost confidence, unlock talents and provide opportunities for youths to develop cultural competencies and sensitivities and thus establish professional and personal global networks for life.

On her address, the Limkokwing University Chancellor, Her Royal Highness Sultanah Pahang Sultanah Dr. Hajjah Kalsom gave the graduates advice on their next stage of life.

“Always remember that your education does not stop here. Life is all about learning, it doesn’t matter where you start; those who consistently succeed share a common habit, they see every challenge, every success and every failure as an opportunity to learn, improve and overcome because learning is all about change.”

“As you are here graduating today, I expect you to take the experiences you have had in this truly global campus here at Limkokwing University and build bridges across all nations,” she concluded.

Students thanked the University for the opportunities availed to them during their studies, and the possibilities a Limkokwing education has opened up for them.

“During classes, we had the opportunities to work in mini groups with people from all over the world, opening our minds to accept diversity. I learned a lot about other nations, traditions and found good friends from different parts of the world”, said Iryna Chernukhina from Ukraine, who graduated with a Master of Business Administration in Project Management.

Nomvuselelo Vuyiswa Msibi from Swaziland said she’s graduating from the University with a deep feeling of satisfaction. She added that she had gained a lot of invaluable experience which made her a determined, confident and empowered person.

“The University has helped me to become the person I am now. I am empowered to be the best communications and practitioner.”

During the ceremony, graduates who had displayed outstanding performance in various areas throughout their study period were awarded various awards of recognition.

The ceremony also saw the conferment of a special award ‘International Leadership in Forest Conservation’ to His Highness Tengku Arif Temenggong Pahang, Tengku Fahd Mu’adzam Ibni Haji Ahmad Shah for his unwavering commitment in addressing national significant issues of rainforest conservation.
