Limkokwing University bestowed the Minister of Human Resources Malaysia, YB Dato’ Sri Dr. Richard Riot Anak Jaem with an Honorary Doctorate in Transformational Leadership at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre on 22 July 2017.

The award recognises his passion, commitment and dedication in strengthening Malaysia’s human capital resource.

YB Dato’ Sri Dr. Richard Riot Anak Jaem’s journey into politics started in 1990 when he won candidacy for the Serian constituency. In 1993, he joined the Sarawak United People’ Party (SUPP) and is currently the Deputy President of the party.

In 2010, he was appointed the nation’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and became the Minister of Human Resources of Malaysia in 2013.

In his speech, YB Dato’ Sri Dr. Richard Riot Anak Jaem expressed his delight and thanked the Founder and President of Limkokwing University Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Paduka Dr. Lim Kok Wing for bestowing him with an Honorary Doctorate in Transformational Leadership.

“I stand here today not only with pride but perhaps I could call it one of my proudest moments in life to receive an honorary doctorate from such a global University. Limkokwing University has campuses in 12 countries with students from 165 countries and a population of about 30,000 students, with that I feel very proud to be part of it.”

He acknowledged that the conferment of the honorary doctorate will go a long way towards efforts in ensuring Malaysia becomes a fully developed country with a high economic status.

Dato’ Richard Riot said all students must be equipped with knowledge and skills to be globally competitive and face the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

“All of us should never stop learning. There are always new skills to learn and techniques for us to adopt.”

Previously the University has awarded prominent Honorary Doctorate holders such as Former President of South Africa Dr. Nelson Mandela, Former Malaysian Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, Minister of Cambodia Dr. Hun Sen, Prime Minister of Malaysia Dato’ Sri Dr. Mohamed Najib Tun Abdul Razak, His Royal Highness KDYMM Sultan of Pahang Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah, and the King of Swaziland His Majesty King Mswati III, to mention a few.
