Limkokwing University welcomed 680 first-year students to its Swaziland campus during an orientation programme between 18 and 19 September 2017.

The new students familiarised with their respective faculties, staff and campus facilities. They were also educated about the experience of being in tertiary education, which laid out the foundation for a great academic start.

Special guests at the orientation were Limkokwing Swaziland’s Industry & Government Liaison, Mrs. Tfobile Gumede; Swazi Observer Managing Editor, Mr. Mbongeni Mbingo; and Swaziland College of Technology representative, Mrs. Lupupa.

The welcome address was delivered by Regional Director of Marketing and Recruitment, Ms. Marcia Mangadi on behalf of Limkokwing University Founder and President, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Paduka Dr. Lim Kok Wing.

“Today is indeed a great day for us all. You have made the right decision by choosing Limkokwing University as you are going to be a part of a very exciting, creative and innovative journey for the next 3 to 4 years,” she said.

“The journey has begun. And it is going to be exciting. It is a journey that need never end. Every destination will lead you to new challenges. You must become not just Swaziland’s next generation of leaders, groundbreakers, movers and shakers, but of Africa’s too. Today, take the first step to begin that journey and promise yourself that you will give it your best shot,” she added.

Talks given by guest speakers were aimed at motivating and inspiring the young minds, emphasising on the importance of education. The new students also received advice and testimonies from fellow alumni who are now practising in industry what they learnt at the University.

A notable highlight was when Mr. Mbongeni offered three Journalism & Broadcasting first-year students internships, even before they had begun their first academic year.

Other highlights included various interactive games the students took part in, including creative challenges and various forms of entertainment by student ambassadors and student performers.
