Raissa Samad has a passion to help people and change the world, which landed her in a teaching career. She currently works as an Information and Communication Technology teacher at Dukhan English School in Qatar.
“At first, I did not know how exactly I wanted to help people. An opportunity came my way when I started working in a school. That is when I fell in love with the teaching profession.”
The Indonesian-born studied Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Information and Communication Technology at Limkokwing University, and graduated in 2014.
“The programme I studied enabled me to work in both business and ICT field. Working in an office was not my cup of tea.”
Raissa said she joined Limkokwing University because of the diversity of its student body. “Having studied in an international school previously, I love having people from different countries around me.”
Studying at Limkokwing University played a great part in making her a global citizen, because she mingled with people whose countries she has never even heard of.
“When you do become a global citizen, you are compassionate and envision the world as not a great obstacle, rather it is just a vast meadow that needs exploring. Learning about different cultures has changed my life.”
Raissa’s future plans involve teaching in every continent before settling down, because Limkokwing University instilled in her the knowledge about of various cultures, compassion, and tolerance.
“Learning to be compassionate and tolerant of different cultures has helped me decide that I to want to work in any continent.”
