Limkokwing student Georgios Milios is from Greece, a country known around the world as the ‘Cradle of Western Civilization’.
Georgios loves to express his creativity through art, music and travel which is why he pursued a course in Bachelor of Arts in Creative Multimedia.
Multicultural Classrooms
Being in a multicultural environment helped him expand his knowledge about multiculturalism and diversity.
“It is a very good experience because we had to deal with different mind sets and different ways of thinking,” he said.
He explains that the University’s environment teaches students to be more open-minded by learning how to accept new ideas and views from different cultures.
Fast-Paced Learning
The University’s fast-paced environment taught him the importance of adaptability.
“Since I came here, I became more evolved as we start to use more advanced technology.”
The University’s academic atmosphere enabled him to become familiarised with modern technology which would help him in his future career.
“The classes here at Limkokwing University encourage me to explore,” he added. “I was able to push myself to my limits.”
Among the multimedia software programmes he studied include AfterEffects, 3D and Maya. He also learned to sharpen his creative skills by taking up Visual Communication, Illustration and Animation Studies.
Current Projects
Georgios is currently working on an educational awareness project regarding stem cells.
His animation project aims to educate the public on the benefits of stem cell banking. This would enable the public to develop a health insurance policy against certain types of illness, disease or injury.
These include bone marrow failures, lymphoma, immune deficiencies, diabetes, as well as brain injury.
His animation project focuses specifically on Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSCs) that are found in the bone marrows, fat tissue and tooth pulp. These are multipotent stem cells that have the potential to be refined into a wide range of cells and tissues such as bone, heart nerve, cornea, fat and cartilage.
This awareness project would enable him to contribute to society by encouraging others to invest in stem cell banking.
Boundless Creativity
During his studies, Georgios was given access to the University’s multimedia and photography equipment. For him, this hands-on approach to learning has enabled him to expand his practical knowledge and creative opportunities.
“I believe that there is no limit to creativity,” he said. “You can achieve things that you think you could never do.”
According to him, modern technology is changing the way art and creativity are being expressed.
“There are no boundaries to learning,” he said. “You will always learn new things.”
He added that this can help people put their works in a different angle and achieve things that people would never think they could do.
