Students from the Faculty of Information & Communication learned to run and organise ICT related businesses during an industry talk held on 26 October 2017, in collaboration with Limkokwing University industry partner, T-Systems Malaysia.
Speakers from T-Systems Malaysia were Head of Quality Pop MY and the APAC Region, May Liew; Head of Quality, ITO Shell Globals & ITO, Jesslyn Ng; and ITO Security & Compliance Manager, Asmah Othman. Other representatives from T-Systems were Project Manager, Mohammad Tajuddin and De-Escalation Architect, Sivarakrishna Chennojwala.
The seminar topics focused on Zero Outage, Agile IT Operations and IT Security, during which the students received new insights on technological trends and the effects of digital transformation.
Zero Outage
After completing her talk on Zero Outage, May Liew mentioned that multiculturalism will play an important role in the future of ICT.
“I think this is the future trend of going towards globalisation,” she said while emphasizing that students need to be more open and innovative to pursue a career in the industry.
IT Security
IT Security speaker Asmah Othman meanwhile felt that IT technology is evolving quickly and companies need to be prepared for problems before they happen.
“The key word is being updated as new technologies are phasing out older technologies,” she said.
Agile IT Operations
“Talks like this bring industry to the students,” added Jesslyn Ng after completing her talk on Agile IT Operations. “Sharing knowledge and experience helps students to know what the real world is.”
Students were encouraged to interact with the industry professionals based on the key topics of management efficiency, increase productivity and security.

For Yemeni student Khulood Ebrahim Hussein Al-Mutahr who is pursuing a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Information Technology, the industry talk gave her greater insights on the information and communication technology.
“I was planning to further my studies in the cyber security field, so I was able to learn deeper into the topic,” she said.

“I learned the importance of IT security,” said Liyana Shirin Akbar from India, who is pursuing a Bachelor of Computer Science (Hons) in Mobile Computing. “I really think that IT security is important in my studies and this talk has opened more knowledge for me.”
