The Head of Postgraduate Studies, Communication cum Associate Professor of Auckland University of Technology (AUT) Vijay Devadas, visited Limkokwing University Cyberjaya earlier this year.
He was accompanied by AUT’s Head of Department Art and Design (Postgraduate) Dr. Andrew Denton and the Director of International Centre Frances Little.
The visit was aimed at discussing the renewal of postgraduate programmes between Limkokwing University and AUT.
The trio met with the Founder President of Limkokwing University, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Paduka Dr. Limkokwing.
Highlighting that it was not the first time to collaborate, Senior Vice President of Limkokwing University, Dato’ Gail Phung expressed that collaboration between the two parties should be strengthened on the Masters and PhD program to benefit both nations and students.
Professor Vijay Devadas said Limkokwing University is impressive and AUT would like to explore the possibility of strengthening the relationship.
“Limkokwing University is so impressive and the entire students get exposure through internationalization. The social change and innovation that happens here will produce graduates who will change the world. I think this university is the best model for other universities.”
Dr. Andrew Denton added that this is the first time he visits Limkokwing University but the warm hospitality he received from the senior management team made him comfortable.
“I do not only feel comfortable but this University really is a beautiful huge campus. I’m amazed by the number of international students and Tan Sri Limkokwing has managed to build a University that has received recognition from the world,” he said.
In addition to so many things that can be highlighted, Frances Little was surprised that Limkokwing University is growing rapidly.
“The last time I came to Limkokwing was 18 years ago and I can’t believe that the number of student and countries study here growing so fast. What is still the same here is the energy of the campus. It’s full of cultural diversity, so international, and just warms my heart,” she said.
Frances expressed that she was also impressed with Limkokwing’s edu-tourism concept and call it as a wise and brilliant action.
AUT’s journey began in 2000 when a former technical college (originally established in 1895) was granted university status. It has five faculties across three campuses in Auckland, New Zealand: City, North, and South campuses, and an additional three specialist locations: AUT Millennium, Warkworth Radio Astronomical Observatory and AUT Centre for Refugee Education.
Over the years, this higher education institution has grown and ranked in the top 350 universities globally and top three in New Zealand, and enrolled more than 29,000 students in 2018, including 4,194 international students from 94 countries and 2,417 postgraduate students. AUT’s student population is diverse with a range of ethnic backgrounds including New Zealand European, Asian, Maori and Pasifika.
