Joe Flizzow and crew members of Kartel Records visited Limkokwing University on 6 January.

Joe Flizzow, or Johan Ishaks, made headlines in the Malaysian music scene during the late 90s with his partner Malique Ibrahim as members of the Malaysian hip-hop duo, Too Phat. The group’s major break came in 1999 when their first singles ‘Li’l Fingaz’ and ‘Too Phat Baby’ went on air.

He is currently involved with Kartel Records, a record label he founded in 2005 with numerous local and international R&B artists. Kartel Records released a debut solo studio album, President by Joe Flizzow. The album garnered various awards including “Best Local English Album” during the 16th annual Anugerah Industri Muzik Malaysia. The album featured notable collaborations with regional and international performers such as KRS-One, Jin, Thaitanium, Terrytyelee and Hady Mirza.

Flizzow was able to explore the University’s creative and multicultural learning environment. These include the University’s Sound and Music Academy and the University’s Branding Gallery.

During the visit, he mentioned that he hopes to assist aspiring talents as a guest speaker for Limkokwing University.

“I am more than happy to share my experience with the students,” he said while adding that he wishes to see more aspiring talents in the near future.
