Temoor Anjum: Empowering Pakistani youth with advanced knowledge to tackle the nation’s development challenges.

Pakistan has one of the largest young populations in South Asia with more than 65 million young people between 10 and 24 years old. With the education system facing institutional challenges such as lack of quality management, institutional structure, and knowledge gaps between cross-culture educations systems; thousands of youths are likely to experience significant learning losses and not acquire the appropriate quality of education needed for them to venture into successful ventures.

Our Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Management alumnus sees a gap and need to contribute to efforts in building and enriching Pakistan’s ecosystem in skills, education, and employment to empower students with advanced knowledge via innovative teaching techniques.

Temoor now works as a research associate and visiting faculty in business schools and has recently been appointed Pakistan’s Higher Education Commission (HEC) PhD approved supervisor.

Having previously studied two master’s degrees: MCom in Finance and Master in Banking and Finance from Pakistan, Temoor has around twenty research publications in Web of Science: Social Sciences Citation Index WOS (SSCI), SCOPUS (with a few in progress) and has also attended two conferences in Malaysia and Pakistan.

After completing his two masters’ degree from Pakistan, Temoor worked as a project coordinator at a media channel then found a partial scholarship to pursue MBA Project Management in Limkokwing - subsequently studying and completing his PhD.

Thesis: Examining potential determinants of entrepreneurial intentions among Pakistan’s business students

Temoor’s study investigates the role of entrepreneurship education, perceived creativity disposition and entrepreneurial passion (inventing and founding), as well as the mediating role of attitude towards entrepreneurship and the moderating role of university support.

He used a close-ended questionnaire comprising of 377 participants who were selected using a stratified random sampling technique. In assessing the study’s model and the postulated hypothesis, he applied the partial least square structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM).

“The findings indicated that (a) every independent variable (IV) directly impacts EI [dependent variable (DV)] except EP for founding (EPF), (b) ATE significantly mediates the relationship between IV and DV (c) perceived university support positively moderates the relationship between ATE and EI. As an implication to policy, the Government must ensure that students are exposed to business environments and find university support through different paths. Specifically, Pakistan’s Minister of Education and the Higher Education Commission (HEC) may consider designing university programs that lead to more influential EE.”
